Anita Elanor Rush (Bell) of Lake Suzy, Florida was born May 21st, 1955, to William & Edith Bell in Henry Clay Township of Pennsylvania. She relocated to Ohio as a child but ultimately found herself at home in sunny Southwest Florida, in a community surrounded by supportive and loving neighbors.
Anita passed away at Moffitt Cancer Hospital in Tampa, Florida on Saturday, February 26th at 10:30am surrounded by family. Anita was diagnosed with a rare blood cancer Polycythemia Vera in 2014 and was undergoing a stem cell transplant in hopes of a better quality of life, as she was eager to travel more and live life to the very fullest.
Anita had retired years prior from Lee County Human & Veteran Services where she acted as a Human Services Coordinator. In both her personal and professional life, she was passionate about helping others.
She loved her pups, adventure, reading, and spending time with her loved ones. She was kind, bold, courageous, and loved to laugh. She enjoyed a good comedy routine, visiting the dog park, or finding a good yard sale.
Anita is survived by her daughter, Teresa, son in law Richard, her grandchildren Kyle, Morgan, and Kayla, grandson-in-law Max, her 4 great grandsons, Griffin, Mason, Thomas, Jameson, her son Doug, daughter in law Charity, step great granddaughter Olivia, brother Chris, and sister-in-law Tracy. She also leaves behind her beloved dog Lily, whom is now being cared for by beloved neighbors and friends, who became her “tribe”.
The family will host a celebration of life at a later time in which we will share stories, laughter, and love. Information to be shared with family and friends in the days to come.
In lieu of flowers please take a moment to reflect and remember Anita during all your travels and adventures. Please honor her legacy by living each day to the fullest.
