Suzan Gayle Thompson

 

Suzan (also known as Sue, Suzie, and Dob) of Sarasota, Florida, passed away on August 19,

2022, a little more than two hours before her 67th birthday, after a long fight with cancerShe was born on August 20, 1955 in Hartford City, Indiana to the late Jesse and Anice Wilcox, and was the fifth of seven children.

 

Sue loved spending time with her family, reading, going to the beach, shopping, as well as going to casinos and traveling up to Missouri with her sister, Juanita, to see her beloved family up there.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents, including step-mom, Dorothy Dot” Wilcox; her longtime partner, Gary Reiff; her brothers Robert Wilcox and Jesse Duane J.D.” Wilcox; her sister, Eileen Welch; her nephew, Carl Ray Driskill; her great-nephew, Phillip Wilcox; and brothers-in-law, Ray Weber, Merl Welch, and Don Mabary.

 

Sue is survived by her children, Anita (Nick) Martinez and Michael Thompson; grandchildren, Joe (Jessica) Thompson, Austin Martinez, Kymmie Martinez, and Caden Thompson; great- grandchildren, Lizzy, Hunter, Alexandria, and Trea, all of Sarasota; her brother, Noel (Jan) Wilcox of Sebring, FL; her sister, Gloria (Carl) Simmons, of Urbana, MO; her sister, Juanita Weber, of Sebring, FL; her sister-in-laws twin, Jannise (Gary) Stallard; her sister-in-law, Kim Wilcox, cousins, nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, as well as several friends, all of whom will miss her dearly.

 

A celebration of life is scheduled for Friday, September 2, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. at Bayside Community Church, Fruitville Campus, 3375 Fruitville Rd., Sarasota, FL 34237.  This will be a come-as-you-are, casual service.
