Obituary of John Anthony Scappatura
Former Stamford, CT resident, John Anthony Scappatura passed away September 21, 2022 in Florida after a long illness at the age of 80. He was born December 11th, 1941 in Stamford, CT, the son of Nino and Rose Scappatura. John is survived by Susan, his wife of 38 years; daughter Lisa James and her husband Darrell; son John Scappatura Jr. and his wife Pamela; daughter Kristin Van Dusen and her husband Doug; and daughter Leslie Scappatura. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren Tyler and Bryan James, Nicole Spector, and John and Owen Van Dusen. John was pre-deceased by his brother Rocco Scappatura.
As a young adult, John was the former owner of Atlantic Richfield gas station on Newfield and Oaklawn Avenue in Stamford. John started his sales career with Hilti, and later became President of The Fastener House and Bosco, subsidiaries of RB&W and ended his career as Owner of Que Associates LLC. John was a long-time volunteer fireman at Belltown Fire Department in Stamford and was instrumental in starting Stamford EMS. In addition to being an avid golfer, John enjoyed travel especially to Italy and enjoyed really good food.
In 2017, John and his wife, Susan, retired to Florida. He was a member of Auburn Road Presbyterian Church in Venice Florida. John’s Christian faith was an essential part of his life.
